This old thing: The vintage clothes show

Any vintage lovers or keen sewers reading my blog, this post is most definitely for you. Hands down one of my favourite shows on TV at the moment is This old thing: The vintage clothes show presented by Dawn O'Porter, total vintage fashionista herself.

The show basically proves people who think they would never wear vintage clothing wrong. All they are interested in is newhigh street labelled clothing as vintage to them is 'smelly' 'dead peoples clothing' etc but by the end of the show Dawn creates 3 outfits with the help from her team. These include a family members outfit revamped, a high street and vintage mix outfit and a purely vintage outfit. Each person featured on the show so far have a new insight on vintage. They love it. The show also features Dawns workshop with her fab team. People go to the workshop to revamp a vintage outfit to suit their style more, make it more fitted etc. Dome of the transformations so far have been great. The programme is on channel 4, Wednesday at 8pm

For more information on the show you can visit channel4.com/dawn. This is Dawns scrapbook of things that have happened on the show and a few tips on how to use a sewing machine and how to do some alterations. Also where to shop vintage, online and instore.
I really am a big big fan of vintage, I too had the same stereotype of the old smell and it's some bodies castoffs. You soon overcome that when you find one off unique pieces that you will have and no one else which is the total down side of high street shopping. My favourite ever vintage buy is probably my Adidas black jacket and my Levi's denim shirt.
Don't mind my mother in the background
